KAY M. CREASMAN: Vice President & Virginia State Counsel
Kay M. Creasman has been solving problems with practical solutions at Old Republic Title since March 2008. Since 1976, she has, at various times, maintained a private law practice in the Richmond area focusing on real estate, small business matters and wills; owned and operated a high-volume title insurance and non-attorney settlement agency; been employed by national underwriters as counsel in Virginia and West Virginia; and searched title in the record rooms.
Ms. Creasman is an active member and a past president (2003-2004) of the Virginia Land Title Association (VLTA). She was the 2010 recipient of the VLTA Distinguished Service Award. She currently (2022) serves on Legislative and Education Committees. She has been active as an Area Representative for the Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar since 2010 serving as the Chair of the Real Property Board of Governors (2018-2019) and was recipient of the Traver Scholar Award in 2017. She is also active with the Virginia Bar Association’s Real Estate Section serving as coordinator of new legislative matters related to real estate.
JON W. BRODEGARD: Counsel
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Jon Brodegard received a bachelor's degree in Economics (with minors in Business Management and Spanish) from Brigham Young University and his Juris Doctor from the George Mason University School of Law (now George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School).
Jon has a deep appreciation for the things that stay the same as well as the regional differences that exist in real estate matters. Jon applied state law principles in federal administrative proceedings as judicial law clerk in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Hearings and Appeals. Following his clerkship, Jon conducted business from Baltimore to Fredericksburg as an in-house attorney with a title company. As business increased, Jon also trained attorneys for positions in nine new affiliate offices. Subsequently, Jon maintained his focus on real estate by joining a law practice located in the Hampton Roads area.
Jon joined Old Republic National Title Insurance Company in September, 2018 as Counsel. When he is not hard at work, Jon enjoys being outdoors, particularly hiking and bicycling with his children. He also enjoys picking and preserving fresh fruits and berries, and he hopes to have a bigger and more productive vegetable garden this year.
HAYDEN-ANNE BREEDLOVE: Counsel
A Virginia native, Hayden-Anne Breedlove received a bachelor's degree in both Politics and History (with a minor in French) from the University of Virginia and her Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law. While at the University of Richmond School of Law, Hayden-Anne spearheaded numerous networking events and panels for law students with real estate law practitioners as president of the Real Estate Law Society. She also reviewed and edited a housing law textbook as a research assistant. Hayden-Anne also performed pro bono work in housing law through a partnership with the University’s Carrico Center for Pro Bono and Public Service and the Legal Aid Justice Center.
Before joining Old Republic National Title Insurance Company in March of 2021, Hayden-Anne clerked for the Honorable judges of Henrico County Circuit Court. She is involved in the Virginia State Bar Real Property Section and serves as the co-editor for the Fee Simple, the state bar’s journal publication on Real Property. She also serves as the academic liaison with the University of Richmond for the Virginia Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Division.
When she is not at work, Hayden-Anne enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to the beach, and going to the library to find a new book to read at the beach. She also enjoys indoor cycling and listening to podcasts on investing, both in the stock market and in real estate.
DONALD J. ("JACK") KENDALL IV: Underwriting Counsel
Jack attended Virginia Tech, majoring in Business Finance with a minor in International Business, before earning his law degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Law. He worked in private practice as a general commercial real estate attorney for four years at Hirschler in Richmond, gaining experience in acquisitions, sales, development and CRE leasing and loan portfolio transactions.
Jack has been at Old Republic Title for over three years, first as a commercial transactions attorney, and currently as underwriting counsel. His role as a commercial transactions attorney ranged from underwriting the title insurance to facilitating the transaction as a settlement agent.
Now, Jack advises hundreds of ORT’s Virginia agents on any and every title issue, including: approving over-limit requests; answering specific title questions for agencies, from foreclosure/bankruptcy to mechanic’s lien coverage to access and legal description concerns; advising our office on new regulations or potential claims related to title insurance; and sending out memos to our agencies with underwriting guidance. Jack enjoys working in the title insurance industry because it touches nearly every aspect of a real estate transaction, including reviewing surveys, zoning reports, Phase I environmental reports and dealing with financing.
Beyond his legal work, Jack has been affiliated with Greater Richmond Association for Commercial Real Estate (GRACRE) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He also participated as a panelist for the University of Richmond Law School’s "Life Cycle of a Dirt Deal" for several years.
