GreenPoint
Mortgage.
According
to a
recent
news
release,
GreenPoint
will
close 31
locations
immediately.
The
company
has
reportedly
stopped
accepting
new loan
applications,
but does
plan to
fund
those
mortgages
already
in the
pipeline
with
locked-in
rates.
Accredited
Home
Lenders
Holding
in San Diego, California, has stopped accepting new loan
applications,
and will
close
substantially
all of
its
retail
lending
business
as of
September
5, 2007.
As a
result
of these
announcements,
no Old
Republic
Title
agents
should
close
any
loans
involving
GreenPoint
Mortgage
or
Accredited
Home
Lenders
Holding
unless
they
have
good
funds in
their
escrow
account
for the
loan.
For
purposes
of this
Alert
the term
"good
funds"
should
be
construed
to mean
that the
funds
for the
loan
have
actually
been
received
by the
bank and
have
been
credited
to the
appropriate
escrow
account.
You
should
also
contact
your
bank to
ensure
that no
wired
funds
can be
reversed
without
prior
notification
to you.
