E&O - Make Sure You're Covered!
Skyrocketing
Errors
and
Omission
costs
have
caused
many
agents
to
investigate
alternative
carriers.
Be sure
that
when you
compare
pricing
you
understand
all of
the
coverages
you have
and what
coverages
the new
carrier
is
offering.
Most
importantly,
you want
to
be sure
that you
have
coverage
for
prior
acts.
Remember
that the
E&O
policy
covers
claims
that are
caused
and
reported
during
the
policy
period.
For
example,
if you
are
buying a
new
policy
in May,
2008 it
may
cover
negligent
acts
that
occur
and are
reported
during
the
policy
period
May,
2008 to
May,
2009.
That is
fine if
your
agency
just
opened
in May
2008,
but that
is not
adequate
if your
agency
opened
in May,
2000.
Without
"prior
acts" or
retroactive
coverage
you have
no
coverage
for
claims
that
were
caused
by
negligent
acts
that
occurred
from
May,
2000 to
May,
2008.
We
require
that our
agents
have
retroactive
or prior
acts
coverage
that
dates
back to,
at
least,
the date
you
entered
into
your
agency
relationship
with Old Republic
Title.
