Old Republic Title is pleased to announce that Laura Lowe, Vice President and Underwriting Counsel, based in our San Francisco office, has been promoted to Chief Underwriting Counsel and Manager of the Underwriting Department for the Western Title Division. In her new role, Laura reports to Rick Dosa, Executive Vice President, Old Republic Title Company and Corporate Counsel, Western Title Division.

Prior to joining Old Republic in August 2011 as Underwriting Counsel, Laura was a litigation and transactions attorney at one of the preeminent real estate law firms in California. Before that, she worked in litigation, claims and underwriting for several national title insurance underwriters, eventually specializing in commercial underwriting.

Laura is a member of the Forms and Practices Committee of the California Land Title Association and is the Chairwoman of its Court Decisions Section. She has been a regular contributor to Continuing Education of the Bar publications in California (CEB), having co-authored the chapter on Escrow in Real Property Sales Transactions, the chapters on Escrow and Title Insurance in Real Property Ownership and Taxation, and the chapter on Title Insurance and Avigation Easements in Easements and Boundaries.

She also has been a panelist for the Annual Retreat of California Bar Association's Real Property Section, the Title Insurance Litigation Section of the American Bar Association, the California Escrow Association and numerous other industry organizations.

Laura received her undergraduate degree at Ohio State University and her Juris Doctor degree at the University of San Francisco. She has been a practicing attorney for 35 years.
