Daniel M. Wold Appointed Executive Vice President, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, Joins Executive Leadership Team
Old Republic Title is pleased to announce that Daniel M. Wold, Senior Vice President, ORNTIC, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in the Corporate Legal Department, has been appointed Executive Vice President, ORNTIC, joining the Title Group's Executive Leadership Team (ELT), effective September 20, 2017. He will continue to carry out his responsibilities as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, officing in Minneapolis.
Dan has been with Old Republic Title for nearly 25 years, joining the Company in February 1993 as Associate Counsel, responsible for handling underwriting and corporate legal matters. In March 2000, he was appointed Assistant Vice President, Secretary and Associate Counsel. He became Vice President and was promoted to Senior Corporate Counsel in August 2001.
Continuing to advance with the Company, in September 2004, Dan was appointed Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for ORNTIC, and Secretary for Old Republic General Title Insurance Corporation. He became Senior Vice President, ORNTIC, in February 2010. He has served as a member of the National Leadership Team on its Agency Committee for nearly four years.
Dan manages the Corporate Legal Department's underwriting, regulatory and transaction groups, providing legal advice on bankruptcy underwriting and regulatory issues (including Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, RESPA, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, CFPB). He also advises and assists in the handling of a wide range of corporate matters, including general corporate governance, contracts and related issues, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other transactions and employment law issues.
Dan has more than three decades of experience in real estate law. He began his career in 1983 as a commercial attorney and partner in a law firm in Anchorage, AK. There, his principal areas of practice included real estate, bankruptcy, banking and general business counsel. He returned to his home state of Minnesota in 1991, and practiced in the areas of real estate and bankruptcy for Resolution Trust Corporation and a local law firm, before joining Old Republic Title in early 1993.
A graduate of Saint Olaf College in Northfield, MN, Dan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and mathematics. He earned his juris doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis. Dan is well known for his special brand of Scandinavian humor.
Dan is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and its Bankruptcy Section. He formerly served as co-editor of the Bankruptcy Bulletin, a publication of the Minnesota State Bar Association Bankruptcy Section.
Active in the American Land Title Association (ALTA), Dan has served as chair of its RESPA Reform Task Force since January 2009 (now called the TRID Task Force). He has been on ALTA's Board of Governors since October 2015, and is part of its Homeowner Outreach Program (HOP) Committee. Dan also has served on the ALTA Title Insurance Underwriter's Section Executive Committee since October 2013.
