Steve Tjaden Receives Third CLTA President’s Award

Steve Tjaden, Senior Vice President, ORNTIC and Chief Privacy Officer at Old Republic Title, was honored with his third President's Award from the California Land Title Association at its 117th Annual Convention, held at the Laguna Cliffs Marriot in Dana Point, California, on April 21 – 23, 2024. 

The CLTA’s President Award is presented to contributors that have applied extraordinary effort to support our industry and its members. Steve also received this prestigious award in 2019 and 2020.

A resident of Vista, California, Steve has served on the CLTA’s Board of Governors for the past 16 years, is a past President of CLTA, and is the current chairman of CLTA’s Privacy Working Group. He has also been a past chair of the CLTA Legislative Committee and a member of the committee for the last 15 years. Steve was also responsible for the creation of the CLTA Settlement Committee, which has become instrumental to the CLTA’s legislative efforts and commenting on FINCEN’s massive expansion to its GTO program.

In 2023, Steve provided invaluable subject matter expertise and guidance to the CLTA with respect to privacy legislation. He serves as CLTA’s primary conduit to the American Land Title Association (ALTA) in its efforts to address privacy issues affecting the industry at both the state and national level. Steve is also CLTA’s chief liaison for working with the California Department of Insurance to review the recently modified training manual associated with California Senate Bill No. 133, which he helped write, develop and implement to bring marketing reforms into practice within the title insurance industry.

Prior to joining Old Republic Title in 2015, Steve was a Compliance Officer and Office of Foreign Assets Control Officer for another major title insurance underwriter. In his current role as Chief Privacy Officer, Steve works closely with Old Republic’s business units to create and implement best practice guidelines for title and settlement operations. He also develops privacy policy at the state and federal level, among other duties.
